There’s opportunity for SMEs to participate in a fully funded pilot project to support SMEs to setup their own apprenticeship/ T-level placement mentoring scheme or evaluate the impact of an existing one. It will be delivered by Enginuity, with the support of experienced employers who will provide expert input into how to design, implement, run and evaluate an effective apprenticeship mentoring scheme. 

The programme is open exclusively to UK engineering and manufacturing organisations with fewer than 250 employees and is aimed at individuals responsible for training. Links to the information below in the event your network aren’t already looped into the opportunity.

What to expect:

The Your Mentoring Matters programme offers a modular training approach, made up of one full-day in-person event accompanied by four, 90-minute online sessions, over a 3-month period

  • 14th April – 1 day face to face session from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm covering how to get buy-in and investment for a mentoring scheme, how to design it and how to implement it.  
  • 28th April – 1.5 hrs – Lunch and learn virtual session on training your mentors 
  • 19th May – 1.5 hrs - Lunch and learn virtual session on preparing your mentor, matching them with an apprentice and helping them to build a relationship with them 
  • 9th June – 1.5 hrs - Lunch and learn virtual session on negotiating mentor and mentee contracts and enabling growth of your apprentices 
  • 14th July – 1.5 hrs - Lunch and learn virtual session on closure of a mentor-mentee relationship and evaluating your mentor programme 

 

What are the associated costs: 

The Your Mentoring Matters programme is fully funded by Enginuity, which includes the cost of all the training and access to all the tools and resources.  

 

What financial support is available: 

By securing a place on the programme, your organisation will receive a grant funding payment of £1000 to contribute towards the time and resource commitment you make into setting up or refining your own mentoring scheme with the help of this programme.  Full terms of this grant fund will be set out within the application process.
