Kier has been named as a Tier 1 contractor on British Airways’ newly established framework to deliver upgrades across the airline’s property portfolio, primarily at Heathrow Airport.
The framework runs for an initial three-year term with an option to extend for a further two years. It forms part of British Airways’ multi-million-pound “Better Buildings” programme, a planned series of works intended to modernise and future-proof the airline’s estate.
Scope of planned work includes improvements at British Airways’ Operations East and West bases at Heathrow, such as aircraft stand refurbishments, lighting upgrades, road and drainage repairs and other remedial works. The programme also covers more substantial interventions, including hangar conversions to accommodate different aircraft types, upgrades to docking and “nose in” facilities and infrastructure work on technical blocks – for example glazing and cladding replacement. Cargo buildings are also flagged for roof, glazing and cladding upgrades.
