Athens International Airport (AIA) is set to undergo a significant expansion aimed at increasing its passenger capacity from 26M to 40M by 2032.
The ambitious project, appointed to the Anemos consortium – which includes architectural firms Grimshaw, Haptic, K-Studio, along with engineering companies Arup, Leslie Jones, and Triagonal – will unfold in phases while the airport remains operational.
The expansion plan will involve alterations and extensions to both the main terminal building (MTB) and the satellite terminal building (STB), alongside updates to airside and landside areas, added aircraft stands, gate seating and commercial spaces.
