Instant success for atg electrical and atg controls & automation!
Last month we announced the inception of two new divisions at atg. We have already seen some early signs of success with atg electrical proudly taking part in a project at Luton Hospital, with our partners at Ryebridge Construction. The scope of works included the installation of new LV feeder pillars to the east & west car parks, and the installation of new lighting columns and LED floodlighting.
The atg controls & automation team are also making some great headway with various enquiries and a tender submitted for a process project in the region of £220,000, which would act as an ideal starter project.
FX Focus - Taxiway Centreline Lighting
Taxiway lighting indicates the centre of the useable taxiway width to guide pilots safely between hangars, terminal gates, or parking areas and the runway.
Low intensity centreline lighting systems are generally suitable for night time operations only in RVR's in excess of 400m. Where it is necessary to route aircraft utilising taxiway lighting during daytime or low visibility conditions, then high intensity installations are required. The convention for civil and military airfields around the world is to denote taxiway centrelines with green (or cyan) lights.
Within the FX range of LED lighting there are several different types of taxiway centreline lights dependant on the application. The main difference between each type is the projection of the beam, these being either straight, wide or curved.
With the exception of the FX852A all taxiway lighting are suitable for CATIII requirements.
The FX852A is a low intensity fixture having a light output of 20 candelas suitable for CAT I operations or military airfields where night vision goggles may be in use.
These FX range of fixtures all have a common electronics component which is interchangeable, and all have open circuit detect, in case of LED failure fitted as standard.
Due to the configuration of taxiway routes in particular lead on and lead off applications, the FX taxiway light can be supplied with dual lead input allowing for bi-directional switching.
