- Airport’s first runway will be ready by September

Efforts are on to complete the construction work of Noida International Airport at Jewar on time. So far, about 47 per cent construction work has been completed and about 50 per cent (Rs 2700 crore) amount has been spent. After pouring two layers of concrete, the first runway will be ready by September 30. While the construction of the Air Traffic Control (ATC) tower will be completed by December and permission will be obtained from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). If the construction work continues at this pace, by February 2024 the airport will be ready for flight.
Actually, the government is keeping a close watch on the construction work of Noida airport. On this Wednesday, Chief Secretary Durgashankar Mishra, chairman of the project’s supervision committee, had a meeting with the officials of Noida International Airport Limited (NAIL). Officials said that 47 per cent work of the airport has been completed. In this, a layer of special polythene has been installed to prevent moisture on the runway. Now two more layers including concrete will be poured. At the same time, the air traffic control tower will be handed over to DGCA by December. Apart from this, the work of the first phase will be completed on time, while other works including the administrative building will also be completed soon.
