Welcome
Welcome to the first November edition of the BAG Update. Since the last BAG Update we have had another couple of extremely busy weeks for BAG. Firstly, I would like to thank everyone who spoke at, contributed to and attended our Autumn BAG Members Day on 20 October, and of course a big thank you to Arup who kindly hosted us at their offices! It was wonderful to see so many members and of course our guest speakers there to discuss key topics around Skills, Future Flight and Integrated Transport. More information and slides can be found on the BAG website. If you have any further thoughts or inputs please get in touch. The BAG Board’s Policy Group focused last week on our submission to the Government’s Net Zero Review into the delivery the delivery of net zero climate commitments, with a focus on ensuring the UK’s fight against climate change maximises economic growth, while increasing energy security and affordability for consumers and businesses. You can find BAG’s response here. Earlier this week, I had the opportunity to participate in the second full meeting of the Jet Zero Council Zero Emissions Flight Delivery Group which was held at Bristol Airport - where BAG is representing you, the wider aviation infrastructure supply chain. This week is Generation Aviation week, a new recruitment, awareness, and engagement campaign supported by Department for Transport (DfT), celebrating the diversity of career opportunities within the aviation sector. Generation Aviation strives to create a workforce ready to deliver the skills required for the future of aviation, as set out in DfT’s Flightpath to the Future strategy. BAG is delighted to support a number of sessions this week with speakers from the BAG Board and the BAG Next Gen Group. For more information on the webinars please click here
This week is also International Trade Week (31 October to 4 November 2022) set out by the Department for International Trade to showcase a series of events designed to help businesses of all shapes and sizes maximise their global potential. The full event listing is available here. Tomorrow, the BAG Board will be meeting for their annual BAG Board Strategy Workshop where all BAG Board members come together with a small number of representatives from BAG’s strategic partners to review our strategic objectives for the year ahead.
We have also just launched registration for our latest virtual Market Deep Dive Session where we will be exploring projects and opportunities in Saudi Arabia on 9 November 2022, together with the Department for International Trade as well as in country stakeholders. Sign up via the BAG website today! BAG also connected with our Strategic Partner Stansted Airport to discuss the upcoming Stansted Meet the Buyer Event scheduled for 22 November 2022 where BAG members who wish to attend can benefit from a special discounted rate.
Finally, the BAG Board is very keen to improve the service BAG offers its members and we are looking forward to your feedback via our Annual Members’ Survey to understand your views. If you would like to get in touch or have any further feedback please get in contact – chair@britishaviationgroup.co.uk

BAG Annual Survey 2022!
The BAG Board is very keen to improve the service BAG offers its members and we are therefore running an Annual Members’ Survey to understand the views of the members. The structure of the survey falls into three parts: A) How BAG is performing in meeting the needs of members - This will help the Board improve the service offered to members B) Current and future workload - This information will be used in both influencing DIT on where missions and events should be held, and where there is knowledge within the membership which could be of benefit to others. C) Impact, Opportunities and Priorities - This will help the Board when setting priorities for BAG for 2023 during the annual BAG Strategic Framework refresh. Please click here for information and to complete the survey by Friday 11 November 2022. |

BAG Sustainable Technologies Deep Dive Workshop - Virtual - 2 November 2022 *Presentation & Recording Now Available*
In 2021, the British Aviation Group published our “Environment and Sustainability – World leading supply chain expertise” brochure which highlighted our vision that the aviation industry needed to embrace a new normal to achieve environmental, social, and economic sustainability, including actions that the aviation sector must immediately adopt for a clear and transparent path to achieving a sustainable aviation future. In developing our understanding of member interests in this important topic, we held the first in a series of interactive workshops to explore the sustainability issues, challenges, barriers, opportunities relating to airport terminals, airside, and surface-level access. We discussed solutions, technologies, member capabilities, and innovations to address the challenges, and use these to identify any gaps there may be in our capabilities. This will provide BAG with a capability “map” of BAG expertise from which we can develop marketing artifacts that can be used on the BAG website, presentations, etc. to demonstrate the breadth and depth of capabilities of BAG members in addressing sustainability issues. To view the recording of the session please click here. |
