The Department for International Trade (DIT) / British Embassy Poland is organising a Workshop on the morning of 21st June 2018 (09:00-14.00) in Warsaw, Poland, to enable Polish and UK experts in UK aviation to come together and discuss some of the key issues affecting  the Polish airports and transportation hub challenges over the next 10 years. Please note that both Minister Wild (Deputy Infrastructure Minister) and Ambassador Knott will be in attendance.

Purpose

To enable Polish and UK experts in aviation to come together and discuss some of the key issues affecting the Polish airports and transportation hub challenges over the next 10 years. Of particular note are the construction of the Central Transportation Hub, expansion of Radom airport and over capacity at Chopin.

The format will include approximately five workshops which will run in parallel and allow specialists in their fields time to communicate issues, discuss options and present potential solutions.

The focus of the workshop is on sharing expertise on how these projects (both the transport hub and the nearer term capacity development programmes) can best be delivered – using this as a means of positioning UK companies. As such:

-          Whilst we are expecting an update from the Minister and team on status of the project, it is not being set up as a full industry briefing

-          This is NOT intended as opportunity to present company portfolios.

-          Sharing of expertise is appropriate but should be relevant to the particular needs of the project and will be in the context of a collaborative workshop

-          We are expecting participants to be able to make informed contribution to a discussion – as such would expect them to have experience relevant to the challenges faced by the client from aviation or related sector

The Workshops

Workshops are proposed to cover

1.    Financing and funding

2.    Environmental and land acquisition

3.    Intermodal transport hub best practice examples

4.    Programme and project management techniques using benefits realisation

5.    Architecture and engineering
