Guests of Honour: John Holland-Kaye, Chief Executive, Heathrow Airport; Stewart Wingate, Chief Executive, Gatwick Airport and a senior speaker confirmed from Heathrow Hub

Following the publication of the Airports Commission’s final report that recommended a new northwest runway at Heathrow Airport, this seminar will be a timely opportunity to assess the future of UK airport capacity and regional air connectivity.

Delegates will examine the Commission’s final recommendations and the next steps for policy, as well as the future of alternative proposals for Gatwick and the Heathrow Hub - in the context of the Government indicating that it will make a decision by the end of the year. Further planned sessions assess priorities for regional airports in light of the start-up funding for new routes announced in March as part of the Regional Air Connectivity Fund.

Additional discussion will bring out the latest thinking on mitigating the environmental impact of increased air capacity, meeting the intermodal transport requirements and the likely impact of future plans on passenger journeys.

We are pleased to include keynote addresses from John Holland-Kaye, Chief Executive, Heathrow Airport and Stewart Wingate, Chief Executive, Gatwick Airport, together with a senior speaker confirmed from Heathrow Hub.

Further confirmed speakers include Chris Chalk, Aviation Practice Leader, Mott MacDonald and Chairman, British Aviation Group; Louise Ellman MP, Chair, Transport Select Committee; Councillor Nick Forbes, Leader, Newcastle City Council and Vice Chair, Core Cities Cabinet; Siân Foster, Vice Chair, Board of Airline Representatives in the UK and General Manager, Government & External Relations, Virgin Atlantic Airways; Dr Stephen Hickey, Commissioner, Independent Transport Commission and Chairman, Community Transport Association; Tim Johnson, Director, Aviation Environment Federation (AEF); Paul Kehoe, Chief Executive, Birmingham Airport and David Sidebottom, Passenger Director, Transport Focus.

Lord Shipley, House of Lords Liberal Democrat Spokesperson for Communities, Decentralisation and the Northern Powerhouse has kindly agreed to chair a session at this seminar.
